Rodney, Australia:
The tour was a very good introduction to the Russian subcontinent
I was a solo traveler in a small group and found it so well worth doing this way. Great experience, great country worth to explore more. Our tour leader Katya was fantastic; she was so helpful, and really made the trip fun. I bought warmer shoes but she said that in fact this winter was not cold at all. Very surprising vibrant like in winter wonderland.
Then a horse riding through snow covered forest was truly a highlight, at least for me. We had a very ell balance set of activities – mix of sports, culture, history, cuisine. Tasted great local drinks and vodka of course, talked to locals without knowing a single word in Russian. I learnt that vodka is not a drink for fun and get drunk, they drink it to keep yourself warm. It does make sense. Discovery Russia through out a great New year party- Russians prefer this holiday over Xmas - and we went out a lot.
